Got offers from both for new grad. Stripe comp is ~120k base + 50k signing + ~250k in stock (at 22b valuation) Airbnb comp slightly higher in base but same signing and stock. Which one would you take? Edit: Forgot to mention Stripe is in Seattle and Airbnb is in SF Edit: Stripe is about to raise its valuation based on round F funding, which means the RSUs could be worth a lot more Edit: Airbnb is likely to IPO sooner (2020 projected) so it'll be worth some real money
Both good companies, go which one you believe will do better. Stripe might stay paper money for a while.
You’re going to save a lot more with Seattle taxes.
Did you negotiate any of these offers and are you return intern? I interned at Airbnb but still waiting to hear about return offer
I'd pick AirBnB for the location and continued access to the bay area tech scene
COL is going to be better in Seattle. Pick Bay Area if you have attachments there. Both companies are on very good trajectories and have real revenue to back up their valuations. AirBnb might be a little more priced in, whereas stripe seems like it may genuinely beat expectations, as long as tech doesn’t fall in on itself. AirBnb has lost so much excitement lately. I’m optimistic but the S-1 might prove to be a dud.
What is the Airbnb base?
San Francisco
I meant base salary lol
Stripe. Airbnb is overpriced imo and I expect the IPO to not go well. I used to be big on Airbnb but prices for a hotel room now are comparable to Airbnb for most cities. Not really a point to do Airbnb anymore unless you're looking for a house to rent. Stripe is only going to grow with e-commerce.
