Which place is better to start my career in Seattle? Microsoft offers better benefits and a significantly higher compensation package for new grads. Amazon Alexa or Microsoft Azure for the teams. EDIT: please elaborate your poll choice with a comment below as to why.
Take the higher compensation at MSFT. Build up a little war chest of funds, use those funds as initial seed money down the line for your own company or to pad your income if you choose to take a lower salary/higher equity job in the future. Money isn't everything, but the flexibility you can have later from that compensation difference can pay major dividends. You can repay me by fixing Azure Portal.
You will learn a ton at Alexa. Work there for few years and then come and join Msft 2-3 levels up :)
Amazon better for your future prospects.
Fix fucking azure plz
Take the higher comp
Higher comp at msft for less work. Pretty easy choice IMO
If you join Azure for less work, you will get you ass handed to you. Azure ain't Office or Windows
At start of career focus on learning. If you are only looking for money, try oracle.
Lol. This is the most common stupidest thing I hear from a lot of people. Focus on learning and do what with it? Until that thing you are learning is giving you an advantage in some way, focus on learning is bullshit. Most people I see do nothing with what they learn. What did you do with your learnings?
Yeah I did nothing much other than making to a level many of you would only dream about in Msft.
Microsoft first and then Amazon as sde2. The first few years at Amazon will be brutal and not worth the hassle. I'm speaking as someone who worked there before.
I interned there this past summer...it was a great experience
Are you saying you interned at AMZN? If you like me your team, I would recommend AMZN then. That's a big part of the process. There are plenty of shitty teams at msft as well and you never know which one you'll get. So go AMZN!
Azure is a good team in MSFT. As for Amazon avoid it like the plague
Amazon is the hottest company right now and Alexa is the hottest team in Amazon
Hot doesn't mean shit! It's how they treat customers and employees that matters
