New grad offer start date — Worried

Hi!

So I signed an offer with a company I interned at and worked for part time during school. My start date for full time is July. I graduate May. Signed the actual offer around February. I chose July because I needed some time off to experience things and travel. My girlfriend and I are thinking of going to Europe. This means a lot to me. However, I’ve been hearing a lot of stories about how the further your start date is, the more chance the offer will fall through.

I say to myself that I am an investment to them. I worked for them for a total of 10 months including my internship. However, you never know. Anything could happen.

I’m still applying to jobs Incase this falls through, but definitely not as aggressively as before.

First, are you a citizen or PR? Or you are on some Visa?

I wouldn't be worried then. Is it a startup?

Sort of. I don’t think it’s considered a startup anymore tbh, they’re aggressively hiring and expanding. Around 200 people big now!

Then don't worry. Enjoy your vacation. You won't be able to get such a long vacation for a long time.
I did the same before joining Microsoft. I graduated end of April and started at MSFT in July.

Enjoy the vacation, but also please adjust your attitude. An investment to them? By interning for 10 months? No offense, you are still green my padwuan.

Don’t worry I know hahaha. It was just my way of saying that they invested money training me, so they wouldn’t drop my offer THAT fast.

When I first graduated I signed my offer in November, graduated in May and started in June.

Enjoy the vacation, will be hard to get that much time off after you start working so enjoy.
