New job at Uber

After two days at Uber, I feel overwhelmed and I feel already lots of pressure to be productive from my teammates! Is it normal? After the recent lay-offs, can I expect to not survive the probabation period if I don’t perform above the average?

Honestly, when starting a new job there's going to be information overload but thats something that typically goes away after a few months. It's also something that goes away proportional to how many hours your put in initially

This is normal for average population, if you were passionate and hard-working, it should have been fine for you. But, yes in the start there will be many things to push in your brain, if you have done open source contributions with orgs like Mozilla previously, this should be a normal thing for you.

6 months is ramp up time. Chill and take your time to learn even if you can deliver fast. Once you start delivering, the time for learning is too less or non-existent. So don't make the mistake of delivering too fast

Truth don’t deliver till you feel ready

Switch to a more chill division of the company ASAP

It might be helpful to have a 1-on-1 with your manager to understand expectations. But it's completely normal to be a bit overwhelmed when you first start.

Isn’t the first two days just orientation/engucation
