Next career move: Should I jump the ship and swim with shark in the city?

I've working for almost a year as a Frontend Dev (first tech job straight out of a coding program), I like the company, culture and the people. But, this is my dilemma; I'm located just outside of NYC, the tech stack is mainly XSLT, HTML, CSS, and a little bit of Javascript (jQuery), and $70K TC. I learned React/ Redux, Node, SQL at the coding program but I've not been using any of those at my job and I'm scared of getting stuck with basic/old technology so early in my career. Any thoughts? Thanks I appreciate it!

You are thinking in very right direction, use current job as job security and keep looking for a job where you can learn something latest.

Yep... Find another job with a relatively bigger technical challenge: like maybe a react or node.js or angular based frontend stack. HTML/css/a little bit of JavaScript will not take you very far as a developer.

Current job learnings are good foundation and with new learning on react front you are ready for market and test the waters. Prepare and shoot for the stars.
