Next location after the Bay Area

Hi, My Gf and I moved to San Jose, CA last year from Atlanta, GA. The inability to buy a house here, traffic, and just the general prices of things is making us consider moving to either Miami, Austin or back to Atlanta. For people living in the Bay Area, If you had an option to move, which city will you move to? Others living in different cities, what’s keeping you in that city. Thank You :) P.S : I’m 28 years old and my Gf’s 25.

Are you living in the Bay or are you in Austin? And what made you pick Austin, if you don’t mind expanding.

I live in Bay Area, work and culture wise I fit here. Austin has a good job opportunity, cost of living is much cheaper.

Seattle. It’s not as crazy as Bay Area (yet)

I’m assuming you’re based our of Seattle. My company’s HQ is there so thats one location I should be easily able to make that happen.

He’s from Georgia. He needs the sun more than 10 days a year. Austin, definitely. Traffic sucks there, but housing still relatively affordable

May not apply to a southern dude, but consider Vegas or Portland. Pro: hip culture, great vegan food, people are very welcoming and less racist.

Thank you. Will def check out the job opportunities there.

Seattle for good tech opportunities in future. Lot of companies have their second office there

Wherever you move, try an internal transfer first, keep the bay area TC outside bay

Thank you for this. Solid advice.

Austin , no state income tax ..

That’s just a trap... they compensate with property taxes and high grocery prices

Still nowhere close to the Bay's, I'd reckon

Go Austin. Seattle is a shitty climate trap. Austin has solid job market and affordability. I’d strongly consider Denver as well. Beautiful city. Reasonable job market. Lots and lots of sunshine.

I second Denver
