Nextdoor future
A friend of mine is evaluating an offer from nextdoor. Whats the future for this company? Getting acquired by FB? How profitable is it? Any plans for IPO? Any visa issues? All responses appreciated!
Watch for Facebook to fast follow this feature if it ever picks up real momentum and it will die just like snap
Hmm... i see plenty of “neighborhood fb groups”.. but neighbors ( just like coworkers) dun want to be facebook friends with each other. Thats one advantage for nextdoor IMO... but yeah.. fb has resources to crush it
They could implement it without requiring you to be friends with your neighbors just disclose your address hey more targeted advertising data
Nextdoor can never be crushed by FB simply because of the reason why people use the product. People identify Facebook as something other than their local neighborhood and Nextdoor is the local neighbourhood people they don't know. It is there to connect you with the unknowns, learn about real estate listings, learn about the local handyman that deals with home issues in that area, it has geo boundaries and each neighbourhood is a different sub local community. From what I know, people go to Nextdoor, Blind, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat, Quora, and Facebook for different reasons and have categorized those things in their head.

Nextdoor can have localized ads pin point for the neighbour with geo boundaries, Facebook can't. Nextdoor deals with different issues on a human basis like mutual community respect for one other and not be another meme group. The real estate section offers a new value content on Nextdoor. Its a different ecosystem and because of the tarnished reputation of Facebook within last 2 years, I can never see Facebook cater to anything serious than flaky social media people use for entertainment than real valuable connections.

Nextdoor would never sell to Facebook. It makes no sense. They serve two different purposes.
