"Nike Inc.’s decision to pull Fourth of July sneakers from stores because they featured a “Betsy Ross flag” has dragged the sports apparel maker once again into America’s culture wars and drawn ire from conservative lawmakers claiming political correctness has gone too far."

Removing the Betsy Ross flag for being a symbol of exploitation and oppression of non-whites has troubling implications for the Nike logo as well 🤔

The most important part of that article is where it says that the flag has been appropriated by far-right groups to further their cause. Nike made the right decision, I would rather be known for this than for having a hate symbol on my shoe.

Lol. Psst! Far right people have recently appropriated the wearing of shoes! Better walk around barefoot! Lmao.

You’re so right! I see the Betsy Ross flag everywhere I go, just another case of the alt right appropriating a very common, everyday symbol

Jfc, this is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard of. Who the fuck has ever even seen a far right person? I haven’t met one in several decades of life. Who the fuck cares what a couple hundred weirdos scattered around the country do? Did we ban the color red and blue when Bloods and Crips were fighting it out in South LA?

@gifkapa bro.... schools in California literally banned students from wearing red or blue shoelaces or all red and all blue outfits in the early 2010s. you can look it up. lmfao

Wasn’t Betsy Ross one of the original feminists? Are black men more important than women? I mean, they got to vote first and all, but figured they were equivalent on the SJW hierarchy these days.

That sucks. You might still be able to return them. If you can’t afford better shoes on Apple pay, then you may want to reconsider your budget.

Great pair of shoes. I plan on keeping them and will probably buy more in the future. 👍

Hey, you do you. I know some people who wear the Walmart brand shoe, and they seem to like them. I’ll try not to be too judgmental if I see you wearing Nike in public.

If it was good enough for Obama then why not good enough for Nike or Kaepernick?

No matter what you do, someone will be offended. It is better to not play that game at all.

From a business perspective, is it smart to alienate 50% of the country that rarely buys your shoes to endear yourself to 20% of the country that buys a fuckton of product? Probably.

I used to buy Nike all the time. It was my standard running shoe. Now it’s New Balance. The NB running shoe is actually better, so it worked well for me!

Why would anyone want to wear that ghetto, anti-American brand?
