My TC is around 100k and my new company doesn't have 401k matching, just its plan. In this case, how much should I invest into the 401k plan? Should I rather put them stable stocks such as Visa or Master? Thanks.
GTFO of that shit hole company. No 401k match is dumb af
The main advantage of 401k is that there are no capital gains tax. If your roi on a non-401k fund is 8%, capital gains taxes will bring that down to 6% a year. Your 401k fund will get the full 8%. The 2% difference compounds and makes a huge difference over time.
This is not true unless you sell every year
I wouldn't contribute to 401k without a match. One could think of contributing to 401k-ROTH if you are young, go for it, but there is a risk of some socialist get elected and change laws.
Exactly this
At what age, did you guys start putting 401k?
Just make your own ROTH IRA if there isn’t matching.

You should still put money into a 401k if you don’t have any high interest debt and you have a good rainy day fund. Putting money into the 401k protects it from being taxed right now, in return for you paying taxes when you withdraw in retirement.
Why is it better not to get taxed now but later?
Because you will likely have a lower income in retirement than you do now. It's actually best to have a mix of retirement accounts that are both pre and post tax so you can optimize which ones to withdraw from when you're retired.
