No Cloud Containers exp

I have absolutely zero cloud containers/micro services exp. But I am aiming for a specifix role in Splunk that needs this. Do I hold any chance for clearing this role based on my systems background/algos bg or is it gonna be straight NO. Any inputs would be appreciated so I can do prep accordingly.

Don't get into roles which don't suit your profile by hook or crook. Next you'll come back here crying that you suffer from imposter syndrome

Not required for landing a job there. Be prepare to learn. And that is not a hard topic to ramp up. I like the containerized world.

I am ready to learn and have confidence that I should be able to learn. Was wondering if I have to study for interviews?

Ask the hiding manager, be honest about this and they’ll tell you what they’re looking for exactly.

Thanks will do that. In general, have you seen folks get into the company and get the expertise? Or do you give a chance to ppl like us?

Yes. But it depends on the position and the team.

Like any onsite interview at any company, you’ll meet several of us. All it takes is 1 or 2 thumbs-down from the on-site to torpedo your chances. It’s a lot harder to get unanimous thumbs-up if you can’t demonstrate experience in the areas spelled out in the posted job description. You can get that experience outside your workplace, doing side projects as I often do, but don’t try to skip that step if you want the offer.

Thanks for the insight

You might be able to show how you gained some other experience quickly at a past job, with measurable results, as a way of convincing the on-site interviewers to give you a chance. That’s more likely to work early in your career, if you’re going for positions ranging from intern to L3 software engineer or equivalent in other job titles, than for the higher-level positions where interviewers are much more demanding.

Yes I was kinda leaning towards this path as I dont have much time to learn a new skill before attending an interview .. and I do have past examples where i showcased myself as a fast learner. L3 is how many yoe? I have 5 yoe
