Me. Deactivated: Facebook, Instagram Never had: Twitter, Snapchat Deleted: Dating apps To be culled: Blind, Reddit Feeling much better after deactivating FB and Instagram though. Wish I could do the same to WhatsApp but I can’t since everyone I know uses it.
More power to you! I did try deleting WhatsApp once but then my friends overseas had no way to communicate with me (who uses email for non-work stuff anyway?). So I’m kinda forced to keep it. But muted/left all the useless WhatsApp groups though, so it’s pretty quiet with only relevant conversations. Now I have so much time to...LeetCode. Just kidding, but damn I can now pursue all my long lost hobbies without any constraints.
I have been getting my friends to migrate to signal
Been off for two weeks. I feel a lot more level headed
This is modern day equivalent of I am not going outside my cave again..only my food. It is so much better.... Facebook is a great way to connect with family and friends, especially if they elsewhere. If you were using facebook just to collect likes and boost your image, then good riddance don't use fb.
You say that like Facebook is the only way to speak with friends and family, it’s not.
Right, like there are no other apps. I personally use Snapchat just for this. Keeping my very close friends on what I'm up to. I don't want the entire world's attention.
For the last one year, have you been able to use the extra time for productive work? Or do you find other ways to kill time?
I’ve been able to find time to listen to audiobooks, and go to the gym. Honestly I used to use fb during my commute time, which was like 1.5 hours wasted time. I listen to some good audiobooks which has been a great plus.
Never had - Instagram or Snapchat Never login - Twitter Deleted - Dating and Matrimony accounts Rarely Use - FB (kept the profile as I might need it to sell the items on Marketplace when I move and to connect with people if needed, but I rarely logon to it) and WhatsApp. Overall life seems to be much better and have more time for myself.
Deleting them is like fixing the symptoms of something else like not going outside much or having a social life. If you fix the underlying cause, in most cases you will end up spending less time on these platforms. Otherwise people most people end up replacing one social media consumption with another.
Did it for one summer and realized how much better I felt so I've deactivated it ever since. Only come back when I want to use their marketplace. Now trying to reduce time on YouTube, Reddit
I too need to work on spending less time on YouTube... I like working on some DIYs so I am always on YT looking for videos. Also have been spending a lot more time on Blind these days.
I'm on blind most the time now.
I need Facebook app to get Facebook pay from the messenger app. So unfortunately I can’t delete it. It’s a bad habit checking it all the time and see all the trump news.

Lol, have deleted it years back. Make sure you claim your profile though - don’t want imposters sitting on it
Thanks for the heads up!
