Non-Tech to Tech Role @FAANG
While I obtain my Comp Sci Masters and finish LeetCode prep, would it be smart to take a less technical role (not a completely non-technical role, think Data Science/Analytics or similar for a marketing / sales team in FAANG) and then move into a SDE or similar role within the same company? Or wait until I am prepped for the technical role and then only apply? Similarly would you take an internship to get a full time role if you are experienced? Is it easier to move from a remote office (Dublin or UK) to the US in semi technical roles or are the VISAs predominantly for SDE’s?

data science != sales analytics
Would moving from a sales analytics role for example to eng or DS be possible if you have the relevant background?
Lol @ thinking you’re qualified for a DS role in FAANG A foot in the door can help yes but you can also pigeon hole yourself and pay will be less as an internal transfer than if you moved straight into a tech role from the outside
What would make someone qualified?
At a minimum, PhD from a top school
