People seem to not believe me when I share my Nordstrom TC. Yes, Nordstrom does have decent pay. We have done a lot to modernize our stack (Kubernetes, Lambdas, AWS+GCP hybrid). Being in Seattle, it's the only way Nordstrom can stay somewhat competitive in hiring talent. Here are the current TC ranges. Format is Level / Low to High Salary / Annual Bonus / Annual Stock. 1 / 90k - 126k / 10% Bonus 2 / 104k - 150k / 20% Bonus Sr 1 / 120k - 180k / 25% Bonus Sr 2 / 142k - 213k / 30% Bonus Principal / 169k - 253k / 30% Bonus / 15% Stock Sr Principal / 300k+ / 30% Bonus / 30% Stock Levels and ranges are the same between software engineers and program managers. Also, new hires tend to be brought in at the high end of the range (or outside the range). People with zero YOE, no college degree coming out of a coding bootcamp are automatically offered 105k+10% bonus. Hopefully, this encourages everyone to not discount Nordstrom as a potential employer.
How do you find candidates? Seattle CL?
Ok... Nordstrom is a major Fortune 500 company that generates billions of dollars in revenue per year. We aren’t some tiny startup. What do you think?
Competing with Amazon, Facebook, google, Microsoft and other companies is hard to find good candidates. It’s even hard for those mentioned above to find SWEs at all
No RSU'S for Sr engineers?
Unfortunately, no stocks until principal engineering level. I believe this change happened because Nordstrom was going to go back to being a private company again.
What’s the comparison of title? So like principal at Nordstrom = L6 at Amazon?
I checked the DOL website for salary info at nordstrom...at least from 2018 onwards, I dont see any Sr engg making above 200k...they top out at 160k... the highest Comp is for Sr director with base of 210k
That’s definitely not correct. The data I shared is straight from our HR resources. For reference on levels to leadership: Sr 2 == Manager, Principal == Sr Manager, Sr Principal == Director You think we would have a bunch of FAANG people if it was that low? I’m at 325k TC and I’m definitely below a senior director.
My datapoints are from dol website which are only for h1bs and include only base salary. From that sample, I dont see any >200k base. most are low base.. But there could be other datapoints based on your post
TC 200+ this seems accurate
Why did you feel need to post salary here ?If you are paying well, folks will know anyway.
You clearly haven’t spent much time on Blind. I post my TC and people joke that I’m the CEO out of disbelief.
TC is mandatory for this kinda post else, you'll get a lot comments with "TC or GTFO". If you don't know, I assume you're new to Blind!
325 is not CEO level comp for tech companies. But also depends on who the target ordinance is.
Ok, obviously you still don’t get it. You’re definitely not the target “ordinance” of the joke.
I don’t think anyone actually makes high in the range for levels 18+
To be fair, the TC ranges were significantly raised only a year ago by about 50% or more with the new Career Framework. For example, Sr2 base salary high end used to be at 170k. Now it is 213k. And again, I know people have been brought outside of range, especially if you’re coming from FAANG. Finally, new employees are brought in around the midpoint or closer to the high end. If you joined over a year ago, you’re most likely at or below the midpoint of the new ranges.
I spent some time there a few years ago. Worst job of my career (other than the store discount). Good talent was hard to retain and poor performers were hard to get rid of. Heavy dependency on contractors. Maybe it has changed but I wouldn't recommend.
Interesting... thanks for sharing.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
What's your YOE and level?
Don’t want to reveal who I am. At the same time, Nordstrom has a lot of young people. We have people at the Principal Engineer level with less than 10 YOE.
That doesn’t tell me anything. Title inflation is a very real thing
