I've gone on a ton of interviews in the last 4 months. All interviews seem to go really well based on the conversations I have with the interviewers. I am dressed appropriately, have great posture, ask questions, and smile. Coming in with 7 YOE as a business analyst with a masters. Still no offers. What am I doing wrong? Starting to feel hopeless. EDIT: I did get an offer from Facebook but, family can't move out of state.
Ive been interviewing. I have around 8 yoe. Most non FAANGS do not want to pay. Most max at like 105 or 110 but want a large skillset.
# of interviews over how long?
You think they go really well but you don't get offers, I would change your mindset and analyse each part of the interview with a critical eye, as obviously the data is opposite to your view. And good posture and clothes are meaningless if you're not performing.
I think it's easy to tell when an interview doesn't go well or if the interviewer has lost interest vs. when an interviewer seems to be well engaged in what you are saying and asking.
No it's not, I try to engage with everyone and give them a good experience, this is why I said for you to judge your performance with a critical eye.
It’s a long shot but if you can meet in person or possibly over the phone talk to someone who interviewed you there’s a chance you could get candid feedback (in CA you cannot record someone over the phone without consent, not sure where you are). There’s legal jeopardy in anything documented from companies but more might be said off the record.
So I have reached out to a few that didn't give me an offer. Only one responded and said they hired someone based on more YOE.
Hmm..maybe they expect someone with 7yoe to have some managerial experience? Do you have any advanced analytics skill/specialization? I.e. python/machine learning ...
Sounds to me like you’re all talk, none of the skill to implement details. Like the “MBA ideas guy” in a start up
How’s your English? Bad background or references? There’s always room for improvement regardless of how you felt your interviews went. 🍿
English is first language. I think Ill have to go back and re-evaluate my interviews like everyone is mentioning and see where I can improve.
After rejection ask them what they had concerns with to help you address them in your future interviews with others. That's perfectly fair and you get real feedback vs guessing
Anyone here try interview coaches?
Take the fuckin Facebook offer. Work for a couple of years and you'll suddenly land way more offers than you ever imagined.
Nah, I really couldn't do it. And it's long gone now
Do you have a friend who can be brutally honest? Ask them to interview you
I have done practice interviews with friends and think that I'm doing great
I mean brutally honest. Because if like youre saying and youre doing okay during the inperson it means you arent doing great. You need to be able to erase any doubt in their mind that youre the right person
