I am currently on o1a visa. My employer’s law firm wanted to file for a h1b for me this year since I could get multiple year extensions unlike o1. Are there any cons in terms of green card application for converting to h1b? Also, I m planning to change my employer in the future. Which visa would be beneficial? P.S: I m contacting the lawyer for advice as well. Just wanted to know the real life experiences and thoughts
Try for EB1A. It should be simpler for O1 since you are already extraordinary talent.
I am still in review for eb1 (didn’t get enough citations I think) but put in niw category for now. I will check again if I m qualified yet for eb1. I m just wondering if h1 is better if I wanted to switch employer soon. O1 would have to be reapplied.
I guess the question is what is your plan? If you anyway think after a few years you will go back to India then h1 is much better. People were assuming you want to stay in the US long term in which case if you have a shot at eb1, take the shot.
Country of origin? If Indian (it to a lesser extent Chinese) explore the impact on the GC application being EB1. If non Indian/Chinese it doesn't matter.
