I worked with a recruiting firm two years ago. Got an on-site to a NY hedge fund, but choked at the last interview. Now if I want to reapply there, can I apply directly, or must I talk to the same recruiting firm? It's been over 2 yrs. I've heard if a candidate re-applies to the same company while its contract with the previous recruiting firm is still valid, the prospective employer will summarily reject the candidate's application. Any truth to that? Finally, will the bar be set even higher for you if you go through an agency? Because the employer would have to pay a hefty finder's fee, so you must prove yourself even more?
There is usually a window that they'd have to pay the agency of the hire you. Usually six to 12 months.
6-12 months is usually the candidate ownership period. Going through the recruiter could make it easier, as they probably have a relationship with the hiring manager, whereas if you're applying through their careers board your application will no doubt get lost in HR

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
No need to go through them again
