Currently at OCI Seattle - IC3 260k. (140 + 120), YoE 6 Have 4 offers - Amazon L6 - non aws- 310k (147k + 163k) and 65k joining bonus - Seattle. Red Hat - SSE 280k (170k + 110k of ibm stock) they also mentioned that ~15% bonus every year. 50k joining bonus. Remote/work from anywhere. PayPal - MTS1 289k (180k + 109k) 50k joining bonus. SF. Twitter - SSE 280k (190k + 90k) 60k joining bonus. Seattle. Any suggestions on these roles? Amazon L6 is a big motivator but the low base is a turn off. I was most impressed with the PayPal team who interviewed me. But moving to Bay area might be like taking a paycut. They said they'll provide relocation costs. RedHat, I have no idea how the culture is, and the remote work is a new thing for me. Twitter, the interviewers seemed really knowledgeable, but I didn't get a good feel if they are really doing interesting stuff in infra.
Make sure to account for CoL when comparing comp. seems to me amazon is the most comp by a mile because of seattle vs bay area
Right. PayPal is the only one which is in the bay area. RedHat is WFH, and Twitter in Seattle. Although tc of Amazon is higher, base pay of other three is higher than Amazon.
Are you worried that stock will go down from recession? Otherwise should not be a problem whther its base vs stock..just my $0.02. Amazon does have that backloaded vesting schedule so something to be aware of
Yoe?
Congrats, give some insight on interviews
Thanks, I changed my username after making this post, so it doesn't show me as OP anymore. Amazon the questions were straight out of leet code easy, 20-25 mins each interview spent on leadership principles. Design was a little harder to determine performance on - design a botnet with raspberry pis to scrape Wikipedia. PayPal - easy questions - class design for users, payments from one user to another. Pair programming was fun, and gave me a good sense of the interviewers' ability and ease to work with as well. Twitter - straight out of Leetcode hard - sliding window maximum, regex matching. Red Hat - mostly containers/docker related questions - cgroups, namespaces, had a coding interview with class heirarchy design for specifying container configuration.
How did you prep for Amazon LPs? Have experience with leading people or just prepped really well?
Any suggestions on which to take?
I think containers are hot
Amazon L6 without a doubt, see if you can milk more money though. You might not get anything for the next 2 years even after good performance
What team at twitter? Sse has 20% bonus so your tc calculation is not correct.
@OP: is the $65k Amazon joining bonus one time pay or spread across 12 months?
It is a one time pay.
Redhat at NC
Are you a dev? If yes your tc seems low for oci
Yes, I'm a dev, but IC3.
