Texas - software engineer
120k base
5.5 y/e
50k RSUs
20k sign on
(They say yearly 20-30k RSU refresher)
10-12% yearly bonus

Does this sound solid to everyone or should I try for more? This was after negotiating.

I got a slightly worse TC as a new college grad in Austin. I think you can do better.

At what company? Average out of college for CS is 75k so that must be very high end

No way. I got 120k Base, 15k sign on and 60k RSU over 4 years as a new college grad (master's degree) at oracle. 75 for CS is way too low.

Even with masters that's pretty solid. Haven't heard of anyone with that kind of offer out of college. When did you graduate? I only have bachelor's, but nice getting that offer.

I wouldnt say it's too low. But I think there's room for improvement. Cost of living in Austin is literally half that of the bay area. I recently received an offer from another hardware company in Austin that was 125k Base + 75k RSU + 8% annual bonus so companies in Austin do offer decent TC.

  • What company? I think it's a decent offer for the TX area. New grad at Dell gets 90k starting in Austin.

Base seems okay considering there are no state taxes. You can probably ask for more RSUs and joining bonus.
