Offer eval FB PM6

Just curious if in middle of the range. I had already negotiated up and felt like it was straining the relationship so I’m at their best and final:

205K Salary, $780K equity, 40K sign on

This is a little low for an E6 PM. $450k total comp is around the midpoint.

It seems my offer is somewhere in the higher percentiles which is good enough.

It's extreme high percentiles. I'm an eng that looked at switching to PM. I had over 3 million remaining on my grant and had an offer on the spot with Facebook. I had counters with 600k in equity and they held at 320k for an E5. It's absolutely a great offer far outside the norm.

Also not sure why you’re comparing apples to oranges. There is a huge bump from E5 to E6.

Still seems like it’s a good offer 7xyz2a ... though I feel your point is mostly just about that PMs get good grant sizes too not just SWES

Yup, I said it’s a good offer. $450k is midpoint. That’s good. And yes that’s my point. I’m disagreeing with Snapchat that PM offers are significantly lower than Eng.

@Snapchat None of your links support your argument. In fact they obliterate it. First post is E5 and poster said he was SWE. Second thread had no data. Third was another E5 SWE.

Starting to wonder if you’re trying to poison the well for some reason. The data is all over Blind. Your statements that PMs at Facebook get half the equity of SWE are flat out wrong.

I stand by my statement and my data. The OP’s offer is average for an E6 PM. There are plenty that are better. The pay scales for PM and SWE at Facebook are roughly the same.

@OP Trust me on this one. Be careful taking advice from Blind.

Alright Yahoo you're totally right. I'm just making it up because I have so much to gain. I'm just making it up because I have had an offer in those ranges with stronger competing ones. I really have a lot to gain by doing that. It's totally because I think Snapchat is a great company (lol) and I'm hoping that by lying on blind people won't go to the clearly better company. You are super smart there bud. 😂

In fact, PMs get paid more because fuck it yeah that makes sense.

Lol, my wife has an lc6 offer 220k, 100k sign on and 850k equity. She isn’t planning on taking it.

That's unreal for a PM@6. PMs are supposed to get half equity of eng.

My take is that FBs equity has gone up quite a bit, growth of that equity is lower but in a short amount of time FB can offer the same amount of shares but they’re worth a lot more than they were a year ago
      Jan 29, 2018
    • Yahoo 7xyz2a
@observerX I know you’re at Facebook, but plenty of posts on Blind and my data from PMs and hiring managers says starting equity is the same. Can you share your source?

It's absolutely the case at Facebook. I've had multiple offers from Facebook and friends have as well.

Posted on your other comment. It's easily searchable on Google and Blind too. That equity is far outside the PM average and PMs absolutely get less at Facebook. Talk to any recruiter and they'll echo it.

Refreshers are pretty close to the same but it isn't the same for sign up. It isn't a 'what are you leaving' or a competing offer thing either. I've seen PMs leaving insane equity with larger counter offers and they still get that range listed on the other comment.

Wow. May I ask how many years experience you have OP? And what clinched the job offer?
    Jan 29, 20185

      OP
~8. Not sure what you mean by what clinched. I told them what I was expecting.

Na I mean this is fascinatingly high for a non engineer role... So yeah, congrats OP.

I was trying to ask: they probably get a ton of PM applicants, what in your CV or interview got you the offer.

Oh. I don’t know. I’d like to hope it was moreso I gave off a strong impression that I could be successful at the job.

Not sure I understand these people that think PMs aren’t paid about the same as engineers. At the least Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, Yahoo/Oath, Airbnb, and Twitter all have almost identical pay scales for Eng and PM. There are probably others.

Also do you have HBS/similar MBA and other workex? Any tips for non MBA folks? I'm just curious because you are at a place I highly aspire to be in some years...

What title is a PM6? Director?
    Jan 29, 20182
    • Facebook observerX
Director is PM8 and is a big deal
      Jan 29, 2018
    • Google fc1826
      OP
Correct. It’s not director. FB doesn’t really do Senior PMs. But it’s essentially a Senior PM equivalent.

Looks like a strong offer for pm 6

      OP
Thanks. Curious, are equity refreshes based on your initial grant or something different? If it’s a strong initial grant, should I expect refeshes to be significantly lower
