Bullshit. I don’t think this is real. Fake news. Amazon doesn’t pay 580 for L7.

No way this is a real L7 offer and even if it were, humor me for a second here and just think about what you’re asking. Is $580,000 offer for a job good or not? It’s over 1/2 a mil a year, wake up and realize how lucky you are to make more that 99% of the world. People are so shallow these days.

Just because someone is interested in relative compensation doesn’t mean they are ungrateful. More constructive to talk about why you don’t think it’s real.

I noticed a trend in blind in which every time L65 / L7 etc equivalent talks about TC > 400 they are attacked as trolls. I don’t understand why. These are the salaries, if you are good and technical you will get it.

400 maybe. Not 500. Show us a screenshot of an offer letter.

This is Bay Area based on salary threshold. Assuming about 15-20% for premium market (I don’t know the exact number, but it’s a little over 15% in cap adjustment), this would be $483-505k in Seattle. Seems a little high but not “bullshit” high.

This is in range for L7 Sr. SDM in Bay Area. Probably high end of range in Seattle. It is a good offer. But you will need to make L8 or see stock upside to get higher.

Congrats. You’re well above band. You probably negotiated very well and got some kind of special exemption. I’d take it.

Great offer if it’s really L7. I’ve only seen 450-500k range for it L7 offers.

    I know a L7 who’s making 850k mostly because of stock appreciation
    Mar 27, 2018 2
    • Amazon QTPie2
Yes, but that's not making 850k. That's making 500k-550k and seeing gains on prior unvested RSUs. Don't drink the kool aid on comp philosophy.
