Hello I have below offer with Vistaprint in boston. Base : 170k Bonus: 20k Split in 4 years Stocks:20k vesting after 4 years I have following doubts 1) Company brand 2) future opportunities in boston/ across USA. 3) life in boston YOE -13: USA experience: 3.5 years Any suggestions
Follow ups to your 3 points: 1. Vistaprint is fine. Itās not turning heads but itās stable. 2. Lots of opportunities in Boston (Hubspot, Logmein, Wayfair, etc) and more so in Cambridge (Google, fb, Amazon, Microsoft, etc). Coming from Tesla, you should progress career fast to VP at lots of nearby companies. 3. If young, good dating scene. If older, some of nations best school system (grade school-college) with lower COL compared to Bay Area and New York. Only big caveat is winter months. Also, diverse with Caucasian, asian, Indian but less representative of Latino and black.
Thanks alot for your insight .. really helpful
If it helps, I know we interview candidates from Vistaprint so they are credible enough.
Awesome that helps

What team?
Join now, much opportunity make impact with skill and smart. Or just coast, collect paycheque, only peeple can fire yuo are squad or layoff and dev notorious avoid argument (unless pointless technology dogma) Engineering in rebuild faZe. Layoff Nov last yeer, ~10% dev gone, now 4 manager for 100+ dev, is fine, squad own all previous manager duty. Budget question much easy now, ask for thing, none know budget so answer no. Fast decision, very agile. Dev very polar - small number very smart, rest very lazy clock puncher who no can reed stack trace and no care, unable even maintain single microservice. No middle ground. Still get recruit from real tech, many office in Boston, VP reputation not fall yet - but from Tesla, no problem for yuo. Vistabreak nice perk if can handle 5 year. Base salary seem average/high for lead dev with YOE here, unsure stock - offer change frequent for new hire over last few year. Comp at other local tech companies likely be higher now, many dev leave VP recently get raise, 30 - 40+% TC increase, not at big 4. Good luck - if come here, maybe can teech some how for deploy container proper without constant fuckup, get extra bonus.
Thanks for insight
My opinion: 1) Fine if you're staying in Boston, not so strong if you're not. A lot of the new stack used in the company is very attractive though. Throw out the terms AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Microservices, etc in a job search and a lot of companies are interested regardless of the name. 2) Growth within Vistaprint is difficult at your level imo. Lead engineer to Principal (the next step) is a difficult move. If you don't receive a promotion there are no stock refreshes and raises are below average. Within Boston you have FANG minus the N, who would pay a lot more. Otherwise there's places like Salesforce, Athenahealth, Akamai, Tripadvisor, Hubspot, Wayfair, Spotify, etc where you can hop around and maybe get a 10-20% raise each time. 3) Suburb life can be pretty damn nice. Having a house and yard somewhere like Newton, kid going to a good school, 20 min drive to work, and a 'decent' tech salary is pretty chill if that's what you're into. City life is meh at best, most places are closed by 1 or 2am even on fridays and saturdays.
Thanks for insight
I havenāt seen stock refreshes even *with* a promotion. And the stock they give now is awful compared to the RSUs they used to give.
Any idea which business unit (Vistaprint, Cimpress, Vistaprint Corporate, Pixart) within the company? Some BU's are high growth while others are cash cows. I've heard some of the high growth units offer their own bonuses to higher level engineers based on BU performance. Also worth mentioning that most BU's are not in Boston proper but in Waltham.
Offer says vistaprint.. I was wondering if they give joining bonus?
The bonus and stocks are likely you're signing bonus and you won't get more of them as others have alluded to. If you're working for Vistaprint then you're going to be in the Waltham office which is a little business parky but there are shuttles from different mass transit centers in the city out to it. As for the pay comparison Vistaprint is actually more competitive than some of the better known companies that were mentioned by other posters like HubSpot and Wayfair. from what I've heard from a lot of Vistaprinters is not to even bother applying at those companies if you don't want a pay cut. According to people on Blind Facebook Boston pays exactly the same as Facebook in the valley so if you wanted to move there after a while it should be very lucrative considering the cost of living is so much lower.
Hi, Did you join? And can you please share your interview experience? I have my interviews lined up for coming weeks.

Boston has good work life, good schools, lower cost of living and with cimpress things overall are good at Vista print. What role are you looking at there?
