Offer revoked after knowing I need H1b transfer

I told the recruiter that I need H1b transfer then all of a sudden they are not sure about extending an offer anymore. The visa issue wasn't specifically mentioned during interview but I revealed it in my job application. Is it even worth the time to persuade how easy it is to transfer?

Wtf - it’s common they do all these visa transfers. Are you a software engineer?

H1B is for specialized occupations. Not exclusively for software engineers lol.

These days for a h1b visa transfer to go through without an rfe, the company needs to show that your skill-set does not replace an American worker. Not so easy if you're not in tech. They need a high skill occupation code for LCA. What's your role?

Things have changed a lot in the past year. For me, when I was moving from company x, the new company's lawyers asked me to get a letter describing my skill set in great detail from the employer x, when I was actively working for x. Can you imagine getting such a letter from your company when you haven't yet told them you're going to leave?

Google is Equal Opportunity Employer. They cannot refuse a job based on Visa status.

I don’t think it works that way.

Can you go in a bit more detail about your conversation? Maybe you misunderstood and visa wasn’t the real issue why they are backing down from an almost certain offer? Can you think of anything else that might have given them a reason to think twice?

Too risky to start on receipt, even attorney suggested otherwise

Three years ago and was approved within 2 weeks. Not sure about now. A lot of RFE?
      Jul 30
    • Yes rfe were/is common.. but as other posters mentioned it would be tricky since google itself is a brand and h1 transfers shouldn’t be a big issue but knowing current conditions.. I feel they may have backed down based on feedback from immigration team..

    Unbelievable! Sorry to hear this.

Show the google offer and get a raise at your current company, or use the offer to negotiate with another company.

Is your qualifications/job description eligible for H1. If so I can't imagine what other reason Google would have to do this!!! It's so weird! They apply sooooo many h1

Prob too much work to draft a job description to approve it a speciality occupation.

I’d imagine google has an army of immigration lawyers. If FB can draft it, google can too.

I am very confused they r doing this and very curious to find the reason.

I am sorry this is happening to you. But hey I guess FB isn’t such a bad spot to be in, right?

Google should be the last company to rescind offers based on visa status. Isn’t premium processing still on ? Also, being a product company and with a google brand, chances of denial are close to 0. Something is amiss .
