I am on PIP now, but I have decided to leave Facebook, because I want to get away from my manager. What is the best way to leave? Should I just say it to the HR person managing my PIP? I would ideally want some severance, but I can only take a few more weeks of going to work. Bonus is due in September. I will not look for new job right after.
There’s a tight race between Amazon and Facebook when it comes to PIP candidates.
Ask HR for an exit strategy and say you dont want to go to court. They will be scared and offer better severance
Why didn’t you leave before officially going to PiP? You are already there and will be non regrettable attrition (meaning that you need to re interview for FB in the future should you choose to). I would stay at FB until last day and use the time to study, unless you can get a severance package to leave earlier
Well, you don't know for sure that you will be put on PIP until you are put on PIP. Does not matter, my PSC was already MM, so I won't make it back to FB ever
MM?
Oh... didn’t knew FB was also in to PIP. Any idea how many % people get in PIP in FB? I don’t think people in PIP gets any severance though. That’s the whole point of PIP - ability to get rid of people without this extra expenses. If you want September bonus you will need to hang out. If you have any leave options then good time to use them!
They say it is 50/50, not sure it is real or bogus. They say PIP at FB is not just a bogus program to cover them legally
What have you experienced? Anyone got out of a pip that you've witnessed?
What the F(&” is WTF ??
If you don’t like your manager you can just change your manager, not company, especially when it is a great company as FB.
You can't transfer teams if you're on PIP (at least in G, but I suppose same at FB), no other team will take you.. PIP is a process to manage people out
what a 💩
I just did a search, and there's no prevalence on PIP threads. PIPs are not that common at FB. Internal attrition data is available to all employees - and it is low compared to apple and *especially* amazon.
Can you tell us why you believe your manager doesn’t like you? Not working long enough hours? Personality? Race?
I did not say that. He does not believe I am right for the role. I made some mistakes, he is convinced I am the wrong person for the role, so now he is doing everything he can to rid of me. I don't take it personally and I don't think he dislikes me on a personal level
I’m having a hard time understanding this. Software engineers excel at learning new concepts and learning from their mistakes. If you are a highly skilled SWE, then it is your manager’s fault for not providing the resources to allow you to adopt to the role.
Talk to employee relations about mutual separation option. They should offer you a month for each year to leave. Good luck, FB is a terrible and stressful place.

Did you disagree with your manager? What happened
I don't want to work for my manager and I don't think he will ever say I have improved enough to stay, so I will not fight and leave.
How bad is it ? Also what happened for real
