On being a ‘Blind’ Apatheist

I am an apatheist; it does not matter to me if there is a God or not, my actions would continue to be the same.

SNIP Apatheism, (a portmanteau of apathy and theism) is the attitude of apathy towards the existence or non-existence of god(s). It is more of an attitude rather than a belief, claim, or belief system.

An apatheist is someone who is not interested in accepting or rejecting any claims that gods exist or do not exist. The existence of god(s) is not rejected, but may be designated irrelevant. SNIP

It does not matter if I am on Blind or LinkedIn, the character of my responses would be the same.

I overshare on Blind in a way I wouldn’t do on Linkedin; I wouldn’t want to embarrass my former manager by sharing how there seemingly wasn’t any explanation for the abrupt termination of my contract, no explanation, puzzling because he had sent a glowing email only couple of weeks prior. I also wouldn’t want to share on LinkedIn that only a couple of days after the this I was diagnosed with cancer; I am not after pity but felt compelled to share on Blind as an ironic brag - TC nothing to talk about but proud that my head is firmly screwed on.

The overall tone, approach and spirit would be the same.

NB: Being an apatheist is not the same as being apathetic

    • He's apa-apatheistic (a portmanteau of apathy and apatheistic) which is the attitude of apathy towards the existence or non-existence of apatheist(s). It is more of an attitude than a belief, claim, or belief system.

An apa-apatheist is someone who is not interested in accepting or rejecting any claims that apatheists exist or do not exist. The existence of apatheists(s) is not rejected, but may be designated irrelevant.

Did you actually get diagnosed with cancer after getting terminated abruptly?

Yes, early stages though, so very treatable. I was in the hospital getting screened when I got the call that it was my last day at work. I lose insurance end of the month so instead of finding a job and keeping my visa intact, I am trying to schedule surgery ASAP before I run out of insurance.

I am keeping calm but wonder if I should expect to breakdown soon. I am taking preventative measures; massage/movie/visiting friends to play with their kids. I need to be systematic.

This is not so much about managing time but managing energy. It is critical I warm up for prior to the race. Once a decision is made on the type of surgery that needs to be done and the surgery is scheduled before end of month, I will focus on getting a gig.

Can you claim COBRA? I’m not sure how that works for contractors

I need to research. Once the surgery is scheduled, I’ll direct my attention to figuring out healthcare for June.

Guess this post is becoming a troll magnet :) I am not judging anyone, purpose is making an observation (of myself - yes, could be narcissistic)
