I have 10+ YOE (non SWE) + MBA. Google PM onsite coming up in 3 weeks. Want to give my best shot. How should I prep for it? What kind of questions can I expect? Need inputs from current PMs or who went onsite recently.
Did an on-site recently - way less experience than you FWIW. After going through it and talking to a lot of people beforehand, IMO it’s totally dependent on whomever is assigned as your recruiter and interviewers. I had a shitty recruiter (didn’t even show up day of the interview!) and mostly good interviewers. You will know how to answer their questions and it is not that hard or intimidating, but it’s sort of like flipping 7 coins since there are so many interviewers and some are cool and some are uh, not. And if you get a shitty recruiter, you’re fucked. Anyway enjoy the awkward lunch!
I am prepping for a phone screen interview for generalist PM soon. I have no idea what to expect for this interview. Can you please give some example questions and tips?
You'll have a ton of product design/product improvement questions (probably every interview to some degree), possibly some estimation/math questions. You might encounter the typical "you type Google.com into your browser, what happens from this point?"
Read glassdoor, questions are just like that: 1. Design an app for X group of people 2. How many cash registers does a supermarket need 3. What happens when you type google.com into browser etc. They’ll def ask some random one youve never heard of so be ready for that and just make sure you make assumptions to get you answer
Totally depends on your luck. I had 4 out of 5 interviews via video conferencing, though it was an on-site interview.
Ugh, just know your job.
What an useful tip.
