Opinions of Box?
Had a bunch of recruiters calling recently, Box is the only one willing to compete with my current absurd comp. It would be a principal engineer role. Any opinions on the environment there? How political is it? What's the work/life balance like?

I've been at Box for less than a year and I really like the culture and the transparency in the company. I'm close to 10 years of exp and I havent found a cooler place to work. Good life/work balance. Down to earth. Good compensation. I'm at 320 TC for a Sr SE.

20 yoe including a couple years at a FANG company, current TC 650
Agreed Box regularly beats out FANG offers for the right people
Depends on your team. Mind telling which it is? Not like you will be very anonymous anyways if you join, since we hire so few principles and we'll know you're from Square
Absurd due to stock increase? SQ is almost 3.5x in 1 year.
Yeah, I still have a couple years left on my initial grant, and combined with the extra money I'd need to leave this growth and commute from SF to the peninsula, I'm asking for at least 800k TC and the hiring manager didn't hang up on me when he heard that.
