Opportunities for non-working wife

Recently got married, on H1-B, no I140 yet. What things my wife can do in her free time? Looking for some volunteering work or not-for-profit work where she will be able to get some US work/culture experience, preferably in the IT/Software area. E.g. where she'll be able to write some code, design a website for not-for-profit org. etc. She's planning to study in the long run, however that's not possible for another 6-12months. Or any other recommendations that you may have are welcome.

No. They can’t work and get paid. They can’t volunteer to work unpaid for a job which otherwise would be a paid job for someone else. In short, they can’t do whatever they want to do.
