Optiver is currently offering me 100 marbles for the bonus part of their compensation for a software developer position. Is that reasonable ? I have heard entry level traders get the same number as well. YOE 6
marbles?
Marbles are essentially an equity stake in Optiver. The terminology refers to how bonuses are paid out through profit sharing.
This also ain’t quite right. Marbles are a unit of profit sharing. You can also separately have equity but mostly senior people have equity
Entry level traders do get 100 marbles I believe. SWE are sorta second tier though at Optiver, so I’m not sure if they’re lowballing you or not. That might be just around the norm for SWE. I’m pretty sure this past year 100 marbles was worth something in the 200k range, so it’s a pretty solid bonus. They just pay their traders a lot. Optiver did have a solidly above average year though from what I’ve heard.
What’s the cash TC and how much are marbles typically worth ?
I read elsewhere online that cash is 150 and marbles are ~2k in a typical year (but were 6k in 2020, an outlier)
How many dollars is 1 marble
No, you should be getting 120.
How/why ?
What's the dev position specifically?
