I have got offers from both of these (both located in Seattle). Both offers are pretty much comparable as far as TC is concerned, but structure is different - TC : $370k - $380k Oracle is equity heavy with ~50% of comp in stocks. I was told that the cash bonuses in Oracle are negligible. Not sure about the stock refreshers. Dropbox is 65% cash (base + cash bonus), rest in stocks. They also mentioned the refreshers grants are close to 100-120k (vested over 4 years) Level is IC4 in both, but as per levels.fyi Dropbox's IC4 is a much senior role. What do you think I should go for? Any insights about work culture at either places? How does the Oracle refreshers look like? Does Dropbox indeed grant refreshers close to ~50% of base? How are the annual increments at either places? How's the quality of work and work life balance? My YOE - 10 years

Lol that might be the most elitist comment I've heard on blind. If you really think that the Dropbox engineer is 10x Oracle's you're crazy. Also from my experience interviewing with OCI the engineers were really strong.
Dropbox because Dropbox IC4 is a higher level, equivalent to oracle IC5. Oracle IC4 maps to Dropbox IC3.
How was your Dropbox interview experience? Was it heavy on coding and algorithms, or on design and systems questions?

This is a tough call. OCI is an exciting place—I would understand if you were influenced by the shit-talking it incurs here, though. You’ll find a lot of talented engineers, a strong UX team (obviously existing UX is poor, that’s changing), and plenty of interesting things to work on that you can shape. I moved over from AWS, and it was a tough decision but worth it. I know less about the daily existence at DropBox but it’s a great company with tons of other opportunities. Oracle is a bigger risk, and you’ll have to ignore much of the cynicism while not being oblivious to what prompts it in the first place.
