Oracle Redwood City

3 weeks back i joined EY Advisory in Dallas. Now my previous manager from Oracle asked to join Oracle in CAlifornia. He is offering IC4 but will try for IC5. Is it better option. Current EY salary 125k in Dallas. Oracle manager says he can stretch for 155-160k in CAlifornia or give slightly better salary than EY current salary in Dallas

Don't do it. Ask for 155k in Dallas.

oracle is shit. stay at EY

EY snoflak Mar 5, 2019

EY is shit too! Big 4 culture is far worse than product companies

Stay in EY and try to negotiate what Oracle is offering in CA if possible. 125k is more than 200k base here

Consulting life is not easy, there is so much of traveling and you might end up regretting not taking up this offer. I would kill for an opportunity to move from consulting to a non consulting role. The constant traveling is very hard on your health, so consider that before you listen to ppl here advising you just based the comp.

For now i am ok in consulting. Looking for max possible salary. Also heard EY has fairly good hike YoY.. Is my understanding correct

EY snoflak Mar 5, 2019

Yes the yoy comp increase is good. The work is mostly mundane with a LOT of focus on soft skills like speaking up, dressing well, sales pitching etc. I am in TAP - advisory too.

snowflake, op is not showing any concern with consulting job. He is just talking about numbers straight away .. why you are getting over concerned about his health ? Lol

EY snoflak Mar 5, 2019

I joined Ey thinking the same, just numbers. It is not easy especially advisory. Do you have any experience working on big 4? If not, pls don’t tell me what I should comment about. Health issues are not a joke.

I worked in Oracle HQ in the past, Oracle (legacy, not OCI) does not pay much but there are some groups that offer OT. If you can pull 160k (with OT), i think you should join Oracle. With some OT and shift diff (approved by manager), you should be able to clock in 190-200k.. WLB is good along with benefits, don’t expect 300k + salary but you will be happy. Work from home is an option and people usually stay for 15-20 yra at Oracle. Again, this is not your FANG that you will make 300-500k and burn yourself...

LinkedIn Fruck Mar 5, 2019

If wlb is the issue, come and join LinkedIn.Not a FANG, but still you can reach 300k range with lot of amazing benefits and exceptional wlb.

155-160k is mid range IC3 pay, and marginally different from your current pay with CA COL adjustment Only reasons to take it would be if you want to move to CA (most people like TX better), or for the company change and all that comes with
