I have a two different offers for an entry level software development position. Oracle San francisco: 110k base, 20 signing, 10k relocation, 110k rsu /4 years. Expedia Seattle: 100k + 20k signing bonus. Any recommendations on which company to choose? Is it expensive to live in San Fran area?
But why ??
100k in Seattle will get you much further than 110k in SF. Oracle is a dinosaur and Expedia isn’t that exciting either imo, but I would be more interested to work on their product than Oracle. Washing also doesn’t have income tax so your net take home at Expedia will be higher than Oracle.
So just forget about the 110k stock since its san francisco?
Oh fair play, I totally read over that. Oof. That makes it a tougher choice. Kinda makes me lean toward Oracle but ughhhh
How dare you say San Fran.
Haha sorry
Oracle. Then job hop after your annual review
Depends on what project in Oracle. Other teams are just using old propriety software and even worst 4GLs. make sure you know what software you will be using or else you will be stuck there forever bec you dont have other skills to offer outside.
Expedia sucks, choose Oracle
+1 for chosing Oracle. This place is a political mess with zero career progression.
Depends on what your job is. How about go work with the team you feel better with.
Expedia. Quality of life is probably better, political messes happen everywhere to a degree (and I've seen much worse in other places). Also bay area? Ugh. Good luck finding a shoebox to live in on that package.

Ever wonder how a few of your coworkers got hired in the first place?
Don't work at Oracle. Old tech stack puts you at a disadvantage in your next job
Do you think expedia would be better for my career growth?
Yes
