Hi, What's it like to work at Oracle's Seattle office at Russell Investment tower? Socializing, food, fun and other office perks?
Every Friday’s they do HH. They have free snacks and drinks at work. WLB is gr8.
It’s interesting to see ppl have completely different opinions here
It’s a free country. Having opinion matters more than having correct opinion.
Did they move? Thought they were over in 1501 4th.
We’re in both 4th Ave and RIC on 2nd. RIC office’s are nicer but not sure if it’s all that social, though I generally find Oracle people to be quite lovely. Lots of shit-talking on Blind so that might color one’s perspective. Not much in the way of perks. Kitchens have cereal, cheese, fig newtons. Free soda! Facebook it ain’t.
Hey, we got bananas too
Arcade on 9th, foosball table, tv, good view of the sound from some desks, snacks and soda that will make you fat. Free Red Bull (highest value item) but coffee is crap. They were experimenting with Flavia coffee machines at one point but the idea was dropped. Free bananas, apples/pears, and oranges at the beginning of the week. HH on Fridays at various floors but attendance and food varies. Some weeks with fancy food like sushi, gulab jamun, or baklava, you’ll get long lines and you get shamed for taking more than one piece and food runs out quick. Good selection of beer and ciders for HH though. Coworkers take mornings off or work from home all the time to bring kids to school or take care of family things that come up. Coworkers all have wife and kids and go home after work so it’s hard to make friends at the office for a single young person. I have coworkers that have friends at work and drink together Thursday/Fridays but it’s because they worked with them before at a previous company. No org holiday party two years in a row but my team has team building events and lunches twice a quarter. Nice decorations on the walls and renovation. Everyone has sit stand desks and 2 monitor stands. Each floor is themed and have a difference color. No promises on working thermostats or supply of markers in the conference rooms. Every floor has a spiritual room and a wellness room (for nursing mothers) but I think some people just lock the door and take naps in there. Nice 1 person phone booths and reservation free huddle rooms to take recruiter calls should you want to leave. In conclusion, physical work environment and WLB is great but I’m still quitting next year because the toxic Oracle politics is just too much. Tired of management and lack of focus on projects that matter.
Nice
At Oracle they offer 2 1080p 24'' crappy monitors while at Amazon we have 4k 34'' curved monitor😹 My friends are all planning boomerang.
Bad work ethics so avoid
Not great, a lot of people are very down/not social here
Why?
