Oracle UX Leadership under Hillel Cooperman

How has the culture been transforming since Hillel and Jenny Lam have joined the company?

Have there been any mass layoffs among UX Designers in the past at Oracle?

Do you think that their Cloud Transformation strategy might turn the ship (and stock price) around?

Let’s see, Oracle now has Hillel—a phenomenal leader—and Jenny Lam who’s a fantastic thinker and doer, along with Winston Wang and Mike Hone. The latter 3 were all at Amazon and ditched it for an ostensibly old-school database company. Sure, they can all probably afford the risk but I doubt they’re doing this just because.

Strong design thinking can influence a company far beyond screen-based interactions. It’d be foolish to underestimate them.

Agree. My only concern is they’re in the wrong orgs. They should be in OCI if they want any sliver of their vision to tangibly hit customers before the end of the decade.

Jenny is in OCI actually, but not sure about the others.

Unless there was a reorg in the last week that I don’t know about, she’s very much not. She sits under Amit. She needs to be under Don.

    • Hillel a phenomenal leader?? Oh god. I heard he did horrible at msft. If he didn’t leave he would have been asked to leave.

He was at MSFT, he left to do his own thing, then he joined again. Thought he was Partner. Seems like an interesting guy with a good perspective on design.

    • Everyone should be able to hit refresh on their careers. Hope him success and help drive up Oracle stock.

Hillel is one of the worst people I've ever met in tech. He is no leader, just a two-faced self-promoter who manipulates those around him.

Worse, he was no design talent - go look at the utter nonsense his personal company created. Embarrassing. Few who knew him at MS this round have any respect for him. He has a silver tongue, but hearing him purr a few times and you'll realize he's lying to you.

Going to Oracle was a gift to those not there.

Same question would have been asked about MSFT only a few years ago. Never count a giant out completely.

Curious about org structure. What are their responsibilities both being SVPs?

Oracle executive leadership has to form a sane and internally aligned cloud strategy before UX efforts in TK bear any fruit.
