https://finance.yahoo.com/news/oracle-hire-2-000-workers-022008979.html Does OCI really generate revenue? Or this is marketing strategy or hire and fire strategy. What people thinks?
Me too!
Workers, not engineers 😂
Why do you think engineers are not workers
They just meant engineers are a subset of workers. And workers include others as well.
Oracle Cloud team is a great org. It’s NOT perfect but as you know FAANG is NOT either. Each company has its pros and cons but WLF and benefits at Oracle are REALLY GOOD and yes there are internal opportunities for those who come here to make a difference. Been here for 5 years and I enjoy the team, challenges, benefits (like unlimited vacation (depending on the position), RSUs refresh, etc) and opportunities. I do believe we have a very aggressive roadmap planned for all services and additional Data Centers for the next 12 months so lots of cool things coming out soon and that’s why we need more people. Check Oracle career portal for open opportunities and PM me for details if needed.
With 2 YOE, what level & pay should I expect? How’s the interview? Do they ask LC & System design? Thank you
Thanks
XYZ company hiring x000 workers is actually just hiring as usual, news like this is just publicity for building a strong image.
That's how they will get buzz
Good troll post

Finally the people laid off from Uber will have a lead on a job
Oci is infrastructure. Infra by definition doesn't generate revenue. What does generate revenue are SaaS apps running on that infra. Historically, these apps were running on-prem. Moving these apps to our infrastructure opens up a different business model.
“Infra by definition doesn’t generate revenue” WTF are you talking about. AWS, GCP and Azure sells infra not enterprise saas applications on it. Now I know why Oracle was so late to the cloud infra race.
That's a category mistake. AWS / GCP / Azure is product for Amazon / Google / Microsoft, not infrastructure. They are infrastructure for someone else, who is running their own app on top of that infrastructure. Oracle makes money from db and SaaS apps, which customers usually run on-prem. The goal is to move those apps to oci.
Oracle is dying, and will go out with a bang, burning from both ends.
Clay magouyrk is paying 30% TC higher for any competitive Cloud engineer from AWS or Google.
