Has anyone of you gone through PIP at a FAANG company? Care to share your experience?
Just curious, do you get a big severance pkg if you do not survive it? If you leave voluntarily in pip you surely won’t have that.
At Salesforce if you get on a pip you can try and get off of it or take 6 weeks severance ..I think...
I’d try to find another company then take 6-week severance.
Had a coworker who got off of it and stayed a little longer although he's never gotten a promo ever during his tenure
This happened to a buddy of mine. He reported a manager for sexual harassment -> Manager was fired -> his buddies came after my friend and he somehow went from top tier to PIP in 6 months. They made all this data up or something. Humans are cruel.
Tired?
*fired? Damn this was scary. Should’ve changed the org after manager’s ousting
Manager at Amazon I know liked a girl on his team. After she rejected his advances, another one of his employees (who worked on the same team as this girl) started dating her. They eventually got engaged and had a baby on the way at the time. The manager found a way to PIP and fire the guy as an act of revenge. There’s stories of him crying and begging to let him transfer and the manager had a smirk on his face and said “you’re not amazon material. You’ll never be successful here again” then fired the dude.
Nice story
I call bs on this story. Was a good read nevertheless.
my friend got PIP'd and was eventually fired. don't know about severance but I witnessed and talked to him through the whole process
What does it take to be put on a PIP at Google? Asking because I have a coworker who would have been long since fired at any of my previous companies, but hasn't at Bloomberg. TBH I think that reflects somewhat well on Bloomberg.
Not sure about other places, but at Amazon, your reporting manager has tremendous control over your life. Your manager can literally screw you over your smallest mistake. I am not saying all of them do, I am saying all of them can, a some of them really USE their powers
What a shit company dude seriously . Most horrible stories I hear about them
I wish I can disagree with you, but I can’t. I have seen so many nice people get screwed. Amazon has some of the worst L6 and L7 managers, mostly because power corrupts.
I had three people on PIPs at Amazon. Two of them did well and the plans were closed. One of them is still at Amazon. The third agreed to leave the company. We negotiated the exit. It did not include a large severance package.
Why were they PIPed? Did they not complete their tasks on time or what?
Different circumstances for each. Sorry, but I cannot reveal personal data.
This thread is turning into PIP at Amazon!
Been on a PIP twice. First time the manager threw me under the bus. Second time, new manager told me I was not meeting expectations even though he told me previously I was. When I called him out on it, he agreed that I should not have been put on PIP, but still left it. I got off a second time. Friend of mine was threatened with one, she took a package and quit.

Per the experience here - this is a signal hat they started collecting the documentation to get you fired soon. Start looking.
What would originally put you on a PIP?
