I travelled across continent for the onsite. The interview wasn't difficult at all. Met great team members. Had good discussions but no idea what went wrong. Is there any way to get feedback?

I'm getting ready for an on-site at cruise and one thing I was told was that if ANYBODY on the panels says no... That's it.

For the most part on things like this... It's some vague personality thing.

Will the person you're having lunch with also count? I did disagree with him on few things

Not sure. But I would guess yes.

Not true. If anybody on the panel says strong no hire than it is most likely a no. In addition, there is a bar raiser in every loop. If the bar raiser says no, then it's a no.

Everyone has a say, including the recruiter (yeah, don’t ever treat the recruiter badly, I turned down a candidate because of how rude they were to the recruiter).

Your lunch meeting was absolutely an interview.
The ‘disagreeing on a few things’ is probably at least one area to reflect on. In what way did you disagree? Was the conversation balanced and respectful? Was it a fun discussion about the merits of each side, vs just saying you disagreed?

It’s very possible they held the roundup discussion right after the interviews. The quick rejection doesn’t necessarily mean there was anything egregiously wrong, just that they came to a consensus you weren’t the right candidate.

Would you rather them send the exact same email 2 weeks later?

Call talk to the recruiter. See what you can get back. If they don’t follow up send them an email. If nothing after that might just have to move on or try reaching out to the people you interviewed with directly. Someone might take the time to give you feedback

I see. Sorry can’t help you. I just asked a question about why I keep failing interviews. I had a few like yours, seemed completely easy but I got a reject letter early next day.

I thought CA is not that competitive

lol just because there's a lot of people in tech here doesn't mean it's not competitive
