Can’t speak for NYC, but PM approach across the company employs Agile. Financial results in 2017 were decent. Your personal mileage will vary based on line of business and your manager.
Is the culture like a tech company or is tech seen as a cost center/ glorified IT?
IT is distributed throughout the company - throughout all of the lines of business. So we don’t have the issue of it being a cost center - not a charge back model. The pace is fast, the aggressive vision for innovation comes from the top. Heavily teamwork focused. Not your traditional bank, for sure.
It’s not a traditional bank but it’s no tech company either. It’s got great work life balance and chill life for a reasonably good paycheck. But if you’re expecting a good tech company PM, it’s not the place.
Very unstable top leadership. Lacks focus - and they always go for next shiny object. I recently left the company after they closed down a division. Avoid if you can.
Stock is high but they've been shuttering offices and orgs. There's a lot of meetings and inefficiency. Tons of people who like to avoid doing actual work. I'm not a fan, am actively interviewing.
