1. Have you seen people getting on to get H1B visa while being on a L1 visa when they take transfer from India to US? I ask because people transfer with a simple Btech and generally no MS from US and MS students typically have a higher chance of getting H1b. 2. If I am on L1 visa, and go for a part time masters, then, after it's completion, will I be considered in the 20,000 quota that is reserved separately for MS students during H1b allocation? Or does one need to be enrolled full time in masters in order to be considered for it?
I did my masters part time and was considered for the quota this year. As long as your degree says MS ( differs with programs ) you technically have put in the same money and effort to graduate, and I kid you not it will take effort.
What about online Masters (OMSCS) by Georgia?
Just wanted to ask, is getting a H1b typically more difficult without being a Masters grad? I mean, I understand chances do increase, but without MS, do most L1 people end up getting rejected in the lottery?
No and No. Now stop gaming the system.
I think USCIS gives special quota to masters since they contribute to University through fee and gained extra knowledge. If OP achieves both with online masters what's the problem?
OP is neither assimilating nor supporting the original intent of h1b. Just trying to buy into h1b lottery.
I got the OMSCS degree, came here on L1, applied in H1B masters quota and won the lottery in the first try. AMA.
I see so many people at Amazon and Microsoft, who took the L1 visa route stay at their respective companies for long periods of time. Is it because they don't get H1b being on L1 and not having MS degree or is it because they don't want to?
I don't know about Amazon, but Microsoft is too comfortable to leave. Wlb is too awesome, and once you are in the US earning more than 100k, you would want to focus on other aspects of maslow's hierarchy.
Seems like getting a Visa is the only aim.
