I have noticed many people asking what partner engineering is at Facebook. Here is your answer: https://m.facebook.com/careers/life/partner-engineering-at-facebook “Facebook's Partner Engineers are a team of strategic software engineers who manage relationships with key partners, ensuring that the products we build provide meaningful value, helping us in our mission to build community and make the world more open and connected.”
How fast is promotion as partner engineer as opposed to SWE? In a lot of companies these partner facing roles have really poorly defined goals and path. Is the comp similar?
Goals are clearly defined. I would not say promotions are faster or slower then SWE because at Facebook you are promoted if you are performing at that level so it is up to the individual. Comp is similar.
Thanks for this. Are they compensated similarly to SWEs?
Yes, Compensated similar to SWEs
I'm confused.. What's the difference between this and a sales/bus dev engineer?
More technical, more focus on adjusting the core product. Big focus on developer tools/scale.
@OP: Did you end up taking this role ? Is this a business focused ?
It is business focus as an external focused engineer helping scale new Facebook product.
What’s the difference between this and a developer advocate? How does the pay compare to SWE? Can you switch back to SWE easily?
How much to partner engineers get paid? Range?
Partner engineers do not get the same RSU’s as SWE’s. I would say there is a clear 20% to 30% diff in annual refreshers.
Why would that be the case if they are meant to be engineer going through the same interview process with a similar comp during calibrations?
What level is it? E7?
Currently openings IC3-6
