She has applied but not even a phone call from a recruiter has come. She has a BS from SFSU and is intelligent. Any advice?

Why should we take the time to answer if she can’t take the time to ask?

Did she do an internship? This industry is not very friendly to women. She is going to have to start networking and cold messaging people on LinkedIn.

Too bad she didn’t do an internship. Tell her to get her resume looked at by a professional and spruce her LinkedIn profile with keywords.

That’s how it works if you don’t know somebody. Recruiters are only interested in keywords these days.

When I apply, I apply to around 500 companies. Also make sure my resume is simple and meaningful. I am just an average software engineer. I am never devoid of interview calls

How many jobs has she applied to? Honestly most resume submissions/job application portals are black holes. Getting a referral is the easiest way to get your resume reviewed and a phone call.

She needs to apply to at least 200 openings.
Did she do any internships? Usually companies hire interns.

Focus more on her role on the project and better yet, how she LED the rest of the team. When it says "on a team of four", people start to wonder what she did vs the other 3.

If you are in the Bay Area the market is pretty saturated so she has to be more aggressive than that. Especially right now since it's intern/new grad season and everyone is looking at the same time.

    - she has to update her resume with more of a detailed description as to what her role was in the projects. include any tools, languages, keywords etc.
-she has to go on LinkedIn and start increasing her network. Look up people in related fields and just start adding
-join groups on LinkedIn related to what she's interested
-apply to at least 20 jobs a day
-look up recruiters at the company she applied to and reach out to them as well
-reach out to at least 5 University recruiters a day, you can find them on a simple search through LinkedIn. They usually have their emails listed on their profile. If not, add them and when they accept message them
-go to meetups/girlgeek dinners/any networking event
-join women supported forums and groups on all social media mediums

It may seem like too much but her competition is doing that and more. There is a big push for diversity so women are highly sought after. It shouldn't be hard to get picked up but at the same time she has to put in the work. And downloading Blind is a big help. See how much information I just gave you? And this is just one platform.

HMU with her resume, I’ll refer her + send it to couple friends.
The problem is, new grad interviews are usually conducted in fall, so at these time most companies have all slots filled.

Also it is off season for tech hiring. Usually companies start hiring in fall. She should have started looking 7 months ago.
