Do you guys own a patent under your name? How to start working on getting one and does this help in moving up the ladder or recognized in the organization? I believe, patentable work occurs accidentally during an interesting project and won’t really be worked on intentionally unless someone is working on PhD, is this a fair understanding?
Once you do one you will know how easy it is to get patents.

You can squeeze things here and there and special case a public thing and make a patent.
Do the world a favor and don't patent unless the company forces you too. Just publish instead. As a bonus, then you get to use your idea if you ever leave the company.
don't publish any patent with your office. If you have a decent idea, refine it and spend your own 15-20k to get it in your name. Patents with your name is priceless.

Lol it doesn't work that way. Msft just comes back and says can we patent any shit you did, we'll give you 300$. And then say just complete this form with the description, and make it as generic as possible so we can sue everyone if needed.
