Peak Helium

Helium is, perhaps surprisingly, a non renewable resource that is running out. While the world has about a 200 year supply, cheap sources have been exhausted and the price is starting to rise dramatically.

Only 200 more years of helium-induced Donald Duck voices. Sad indeed.

This should not be a surprise to anyone. It is ridiculous that Helium isn't banned for balloons. There is no replacement for Helium in so many other critical applications

Specially if you try to build a gigantic balloon to move people around

There's more helium in space.

Sure. Pretty expensive way to fill your kid's party balloons.

You say peak supply, I say peak demand!

Should need to clarify that it’s not that helium is running out. It’s a particular isotope of helium that’s running out: helium-3. So don’t feel guilty about filling up that balloon.
