These redditors are dumb. Every major EA release they talk about it non stop and get upset over, make a big deal out of it and rinse and repeat over the next title. Meanwhile EA is doing just fine and doesn’t care.
No, EA cares. The current strategy was a change from the what Battlefront 1 did because of the last player revolt (DLC packs and season passes). Players hate change (they also hate dumb hallow responses on social channels)
Can’t speak as to BF as I don’t care to follow the drama but players do bitch and whine at any attempt to commercialize a game. It’s pretty annoying when their always crying wolf at every little thing to generate revenue and pay for development costs in the indie titles that I play.
Video games already have small margins compared to, say, social media. Sad to see how developers get treated.
Game devs don’t get enough recognition. Huge respect for them!
Some people in my office are taking it personally, which I find funny. I find the entire situation funny, and a testament to how much players passionately love EA that they’d get this upset over something like this. They’ve got fair criticisms which of course have been exaggerated, but I’m glad we’re engaging and addressing them.
I don’t take it personally when passionate gamers get passionate over a game I’ve worked on.
Another possible theory besides negligence might be that all the core talent have earn-outs. People wait x years, get a big cheque and leave to join/start another small studio that was obviously thier desired place to be. Killed by negligence? I've not witnessed that.
