Even though the skills required to develop, market, and launch products in pharma are very similar to those in clinical diagnostics, and even more so in molecular diagnostics, pharma companies tend to require that you had to have sold or marketed pharma to work in pharma. If you have a clinical diagnostic marketing background pharma is very resistant to consider you.

In reality while pharma budgets are much larger than Dx, those in Dx have to do the same work with less and are much closer to the customers, data, and analytics as they likely did it themselves vs pharma buying a report.
