Pivotal Interview Process is Amazing

No LC and got straight to solving a real problem using Test-Driven Development and pair programming.

Why don’t I see any other tech companies doing this type of interview? It simulates how you are supposed to work on a daily basis.

Kudo to Pivotal 👍🙏😁

They are desperate to hire that they decided to drop the bar. Can you move to other org from there?

I doubt that it would drop the bar. This was just a phone screen and there will be another full-day onsite. Here are my observations:

      1. Better preprocessing filter. LC doesn’t let interviewer feel how it is like to work with interviewee in a team.

      2. Give candidates more chances for discussing ideas and their thought process.

Anyway, I could be biased but that how I felt after the interview.

Pivotal interview questions have not changed for years. The thing is... you are going to do pair programming at work. That sucks.

Quite good. ~130k base, $50k RSU and I am in tier 2 city.

I work at Pivotal. Pair programming is awesome. And during the interview you get a feel of what it would be like to work with the person on a daily basis. You get a sense of how the person approaches problems, how she troubleshoots, how she thinks about testing etc

I would argue TDD and pair programming allow interviewer to have a better idea about the candidate’s personality and his/her coding skills.

I dont, let's say one doesn't know TDD. Then what??? Doesn't mean candidate isn't qualified
But on the other hand, if one can't do an easy LC question, he/she definitely isn't qualified

good point, but if one cannot be led to grok TDD in 10 minutes, he/she definitely isn't qualified--QA or SWE.

Maybe, but I ll still prefer LC most of the times
