Do you get plus points if you tell your interviewer, you know an algorithm off the top of your head for the asked ques? Anyone here done that? L4 interview(Amazon) coming up. Should I spend any time on OOD design ques? Some of my friends didn't get that round. TX!
No points. You will be tested on a different problem. Realistically most interviewers will expect you have seen similar class of problems if not the same one. Just explain your thought process and code.
No. Just pretend it’s your first time and crush it.
I definitely wouldn’t do that. Plus, if you know the answer off the top of your head you’re more likely to skip more of the thought process behind it.
If you tell me you know the problem I'll ask you to continue for a bit. Whether you tell me or not, it will be pretty obvious as you talk through the problem that it's not a challenge for you and I would move forward with a more difficult one. Now if you tell me you know the problem, but later we get to the point where you can't implement the solution...
Just be honest.
Happened to me once at a startup. The interviewer switched to a 10x harder problem and I couldn’t solve it. All other rounds were perfect, but did not get the job. :(

Just focus on being likable. But realistically that doesn’t matter to pass the leetcode grind.
