Apparently, Americans feel more comfortable with homeless people than with cops. It's so funny.

Really? Just do a google search... Lots of people getting killed by homeless people. And lots of women getting raped even if you restrict your search to the last 5 years in Seattle.

Hey @Dijkstra any thoughts on the homeless person who tried to light someone on fire in Ravenna a few weeks ago?

Not really. I worked at a deli and people wanted me to call the cops on homeless people all the time for just being around and looking homeless.

And credit karma, these police officees were also just being around.

Most homeless aren’t violent. Most cops aren’t corrupt racist assholes. But the power cops have makes their foibles more impactful and deserving of more scrutiny.

Yeah cops make people feel unsafe. We don't want borderline psychopaths on the edge with guns near us.

Unlike most of the people here I've actually dealt with cops

“psychopaths on the edge”... getting hyped up on coffee on top of that.

While I agree this is wrong cops aren’t blameless. Cops need to start holding on another accountable. It’s such an important job and the margin of error is small but it’s the job and you sign yo for it. Cops aren’t victims.

@FB blacks don’t commit crime at a higher rate but they are over policed so they are caught more . What is sad is an asshole like you had these racist thoughts and you can’t be exposed for the racist you are.

Blacks don't commit crimes at a higher rate?! Are you insane, check any stats and compare with the percentage of blacks. 😂😂

@sundance your reading comprehension sucks. Please read my comment again, slowly. Focus on the start of the sentence “A person just as stupid as this customer could be worried because... “. The point I’m making is that fearing police officers just like fearing black people is stupid.

Are you sure you’re not forgetting something? Context might be of importance here. Ask your lawyer for clarification if that’s all you understood.

I would make a note to self to avoid Starbucks for safety reasons, but I already never go there. Too many better alternatives.

Business asking non paying loitering person to leave during rush hour to free space for paying customers? Ok, skin color doesn't matter.

What are you even talking about? You’re complaining about the ambiguous “police officer” in the same way a white supremacist complains about the ambiguous “black person”.

So random barista has rights to kick out paying customers?
I.e. If some jerk in Che Guevara t-shirt makes some poor south American uncomfortable barista should be able to kick him out? Nice.

What if instead of a group of cops it would have been a group of black teenagers with hoodies? A person just as stupid as this customer could be worried because statistically black people commit crimes at a much higher rate and now you have 6 of them at the same table. 🙄

Most likely customer had like a pound of heroin in their bag so kicking police out definitely calmed down their nerves.

      OP
And if paying customer happen to be white, would barista have asked group of hoodies to leave? Then these same people (justifying barista now) would be crying racism.

So...disagree means that police shouldn’t leave when requested by the establishment? wtf?

Agree means police should ignore distress calls made by starbux employees with the pretext that we dont want your customers feel umconfortable so handle yourself.
      Jul 6
  • This seems a little extreme. I understand that cops have killed innocent unarmed black people (and people in general).

    But at a Starbucks? Seriously?
