Because engineers making 200k+ minimum and are likely to get interviews within weeks can't afford $160 for leetcode?
You never know what someone’s financial situation is. Adults have kids you know. Some people get traumatized after a lay off and take months to find work.
Good point. I just think it would be better for leetcode to give discounts to students whose Tc is a rounding error of an Uber engineer
A truly fucking strange idea. And not because Uber engineers can easily afford it - it is not the point. The point is - differentiated pricing is very wrong and very unfair idea, for everything. Be it LC subscription, home loans, college tuition, etc - anything!
That’s not any different than hurricane victims getting free aid.
Oh yes, there is an important difference. There's no market for hurricane aid, which giving such aid would distort. I am absolutely for helping someone truly in need. But - don't you see that subsidised home loans or income-differentiated tuition distorts the market, and makes it less affordable for the rest?
this is a boon for LC. more revenue from spike in devs needing to practice. why throw that $ away?
yes, i am sure they cant afford it being a sw engg in the bay area!
Most of them have already solved all the questions.
It would be a good press / nice gesture, but Uber engineers weren’t exactly living paycheck to paycheck / food stamps / hard pressed to find interview opportunities.
Uber interview is one of the hardest to crack. That means they have already solved over 200 leetcode and are better than most of the candidates. They just need to spend a day or two to brush up and can be as competitive as any other candidates.
