Potential contract turned into full-time offer. Salary?

Hello, A staffing firm connected me with company X. The staffing firm said the staffing firm would give me $110-120k. After the interview with company X, the VP called me a unicorn and said they just want to hire me full-time instead of a 6 month contract to hire through the staffing agency. Where do you think my final salary should lie? How should I negotiate with company X? I know what the staffing company would have given me. I asked the recruiter for advice, and he said they don't think company X will be able to match the offer the staffing company gave (that doesn't make much sense to me). Cut out the middle man. Advice? Current TC: 105k. Midwest.

It's totally possible the staffing company has a higher offer. But the benefits will be far less. If you like to be full time, then you can contact the employer again and negotiate. You can tell them the staffing company offered you a higher rate initially (it's better if you don't tell them you spoke to them after their offer). In any case it kinda seems like the company is stingy and trying to keep the staffing firm out of the loop (for finder's fee) after they helped them find you. Not indicative of a standard firm. In large companies vendor mgmt doesn't let any company internals talk to the potential consultant.

If you are the unicorn, VP should offer him his position and salary.

Full time offers will always be lower than a contract in terms of cash. Full time offers will include benefits and other non cash value. Surprised to see so many people voting for the clear wrong answer. Classic blind lol

Yep, lot of people just assume FTE comp is better. It might true with top tiers but not others.
