Pregnancy costs

I am pregnant expecting in June, and planning to set aside funds in FSA to cover coinsurance and deductivles. I have a PPO with $500 deductible, 10% coinsurance & $2500 out of pocket max. Any suggestions on how much i should ballpark be setting aside for coinsurance & deductibles? Thank you!

I had 250 dollar deductible and 2k out of pocket max. I had a dec baby so my whole pregnancy was in one calendar year. The whole thing was about 1700 dollars for me and then once the baby is born they become their own person and they have to meet their own deductible. So he ran up about a 170 dollar bill once born

Also I'll add I had a low risk pregnancy with no complications and standard delivery. .. c-section or complications I probably would have hit the full 2k. Also if I had to hit my deductible 2x (had I been pregnant still on Jan 1) that would have significantly increased the cost

You seem to have a good health insurance. Congratulations on being pregnant and wishing you good luck.

I would call the hospital you plan to deliver at to see if they can run the numbers early for you utilizing your insurance info. They generally provide cost estimates and factor in delivery, etc. whether or not you have an epidural... and all of that. You will also want to consider maternal testing, new parent courses, etc....

Max it all lol. Our pregnancy was like 40k (part that insurance doesn't pay). You will for sure hit the out of pocket limit

Do you mind sharing what was that, that wasn't covered? 40k is a lot ! I thought most insurances cover most of the pregnancy and not expecting paying anything above the out of pocket max.

Isnā€™t it fully paid? I have seen HMO is pretty much 0 deductible..
